When the Finance Now Auckland team moved into their new office on Victoria Street, the welcome was waiting on their desks.
A notebook and pen, a mousepad with the company’s purpose and values on it, a voucher for a coffee at a café nearby, and a little credit loaded onto their Extraordinary card for food and drink. The idea was simple: give people a reason to get out, find their new local, and settle in together.
The office itself is a significant change from the old one. It’s a bright, light space, and having everyone on the same floor rather than split across levels has made a real difference to how the team connects. There are more spaces to collaborate, and quieter corners for work that needs focus. The meeting rooms have better technology too, which matters for a team that joins a lot of calls with colleagues in Invercargill. The reception area provided a great opportunity to bring the brand to life, with a wall of Finance Now icons alongside the logo.
Moving into the city has changed the daily routine. For some of the team it’s a longer trip, for others a different way of getting to work. That was something Finance Now worked on before the move rather than after it. Change workshops ran for teams and people leaders ahead of both office relocations. And from 1 August, two new commuting benefits came in, giving eligible team members the option to pay for public transport or a bike through salary sacrifice.
A few weeks in, the space has started to shape how the team works.

“People are staying for lunch, and teams are working together in a way they didn’t in the old space. We aimed to design for that, and it’s nice to see it happening.”
The Auckland move follows the Invercargill team’s move into their new office earlier this year, both part of the same investment in where and how the Finance Now team works.
