Kiwi-owned Finance Now introduces NOW Rewards Visa

3 mins

Finance Now introduces NOW Rewards Visa, the first credit card to carry the Finance Now name. The card brings digital wallet support starting with Google Pay, with Apple Pay to follow, and keeps its rewards programme and long-term interest free finance at a moment when major banks are cutting card benefits.

The card replaces the Purple Visa Card, which Finance Now acquired from The Warehouse Group in 2017, and has operated* since.

For many Kiwi households, a one-off cost like a fridge that dies, or the car needs new tyres, or kitting the kids out with devices for the school year, is the kind of expense that knocks a monthly budget sideways. Long-term interest free finance, used responsibly, turns that one-off shock into predictable payments. That kind of flexibility matters more, not less, as Kiwi households continue to feel the pressure of rising costs.

The rebrand comes after a year of significant change in New Zealand’s credit card market. Since the Commerce Commission’s new interchange fee caps came into effect in December 2025, major banks have scaled back their rewards programmes. One major bank exited its flagship Airpoints partnership. Another announced a points devaluation of around 26 per cent alongside cuts to interest free days and travel insurance. For cardholders, it adds up to less value from their cards at a time when they need more.

Finance Now is going the other way.

“A credit card isn’t just a product. For a lot of Kiwi households, it’s a way to manage the month,” says Hadyn Halls, CEO of Finance Now. “When the fridge dies or the car needs new tyres, interest free finance at a trusted retailer can be the difference between a stressful month and a manageable one. We’ve watched the market cut back on rewards, shrink benefits, and exit partnerships. We’ve made a different call: we’re keeping our rewards, our interest free terms, and our commitment to Kiwi retailers. This is a moment when Kiwi households need that consistency.”
